All Durban roads lead to Umlazi this weekend for the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) ’s (PSL Reserve League) derby festival.

The festival, scheduled for the King Zwelithini Stadium, will see age-old rivalries rekindled, bragging rights on the line, cross-town supremacy at stake and budding rivalries taking shape when Kaizer Chiefs faceoff against Orlando Pirates; Golden Arrows clash with AmaZulu; SuperSport United line up against Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City play Ajax Cape Town.

Completing the six-match derby line-up are two provincial duels; the Free State derby between Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars and the Limpopo derby between Polokwane City and Baroka FC.

The current log standings paint a picture of a very competitive season. Maritzburg United, the only undefeated side, have a one-point lead over Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows.

With the derby festival heralding the halfway point in the season, clubs will be looking at creating a healthy distance between themselves and rivals.

Entry to the King Zwelithini Stadium is free, but fans must be in possession of a match- day ticket. These will be available at the stadium’s ticket office from 1pm on Thursday and Friday. No tickets will be available on match days.

Fans in attendance on Saturday will be entertained with Benny Maverick belting out his smash hit “Memeza” during the half-time break.

There’ll also be a variety of hampers which include DStv Exploras and R1000 grocery vouchers up for grabs for fans.

The stadium gates will open at 8am with the first match kicking off at 10am. For people who can’t get to the stadium, all six matches will be broadcast live across multiple channels on DStv; SuperSport 4 and 10 and community TV channels.
