Two SuperSport United Development Academy youngsters have been promoted to first team in a space of seven days.

Two SuperSport United Development Academy youngsters have been promoted to first team in a space of seven days.

The players are Oswin Appolis and Khanyisile Mayo who have both featured against rookies Stellenbosch FC and Highlands Park FC respectively.

The former was introduced as a substitute and came close to winning the match for United after hitting the bottom of the upright as they drew 1-all with “Stellies” a week ago.

Mayo junior, the son of the legendary Patrick Mayo, also made his maiden appearance for the Tshwane-based-outfit this past weekend at home when United beat Highlands 2-0.

The pair formed a formidable partnership in the SuperSport United Reserve team and also represented South Africa in the national under20 squad.

Appolis is currently with the national under20 side which is participating in the COSAFA Cup in Lusaka, Zambia.  He netted a brace last week on Thursday and also won man of the match award.

Meanwhile South Africa take on Lesotho this afternoon in their last match of group B at Nkoloma Stadium.  A win for them will book them a space for the semi-final.
