Back to business with coach Tembo – Week Two

SuperSport United Football Club are in their second week since they resumed training programme last week.

The club website took an opportunity to talk to head Coach Kaitano Tembo on the team’s return to work.

How was the first day after seeing each other three months ago?

It was very emotional seeing the guys for the first time after three months and you could see the smiles and the excitement on the faces of the guys.

I hope everybody was happy to be back?

It showed that we had really missed each other and also missed what we really enjoy doing and that's playing football.

How is the mood at training on the first Week?

The mood is very good and that made it easier for us to get back to work with everyone in the right frame of mind with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm.

You guys missed seeing each other as you do that almost every day. Isn’t it?

Due to the circumstances we find ourselves in because of COVID 19, it meant that a lot has changed in terms of our environment and how we conduct our training sessions. We have to make sure that we all comply with the PSL, SAFA and Government compliance manual regarding the health regulations.

What was the focal point from day1 till the end of the First Week?

The focal point of our first week was the fitness condition of our players which meant we had to go through a battery of tests and then start building the fitness levels gradually.

How is the setup as far as training programme is concerned?

The players had training programmes during isolation and I’m very proud of the players for being very professional in terms of following their routine and that showed character and mental strength.

What is your message to all the players the club released? Their contribution did not go unnoticed. Isn’t it?

We had Thabo Mnyamane, Thabo Qalinge, Thakazani Mbanjwa and Thato Lesoma leaving the club after their contracts expired and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their contribution to the success of the club and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Thabo Mnyamane won four trophies with us and his contribution to the club will not go unnoticed.
