South Africa bowed out of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations semifinal with their heads held high after losing 4-2 to Nigeria on penalties.

The match was held at the Stade de Bouake, Bouake.

The score was 1-1 at regulation time and the match had to go into extra time before Kelechi Iheanacho booked Nigeria a place in the final after taking their last spot-kick.

Meanwhile Bafana Bafana will take on DRC Congo (they lost 1-0 to hosts Ivory Coast) in the third place playoff this coming weekend.
