SuperSport United welcome Swallows FC in their crucial home match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday night.
The match starts at 19:30.
Matsatsantsa were hard at work this week as they are eyeing maximum points for their second home match since the fans were allowed back in the stands.
“The atmosphere at training is great. Everybody is confident in our ability as individuals and a team, and that allows us to enjoy ourselves.
We never go into games aiming for draws, but clean sheets have been hard to come by in the second half of the season so we can build from there. We just need to focus on putting the ball in the back of the net, but there is no need to panic. We want to win every game we play, but sometimes a point is better than none,” said the Matsatsantsa midfielder Jesse Donn.
This is going to be a tough one looking at how visitors Swallows are battling to avoid the drop as Matsatsantsa are also looking to consolidate their top eight spot.
“Swallows are a good team and it doesn’t help that they are fighting relegation, but we are also pushing for top eight and have a lot to play for. We are confident that we’ll get all three points but are ready for a fight,” said Donn.
Matsatsantsa are going into this match after playing to a goalless draw with Stellenbosch FC at the same venue on Tuesday.
The draw saw Matsatsantsa dropping to position eight from the seventh spot on the DStv Premiership log table.
On the other hand, Swallows are placed 15th on the log having played 27 matches with 23 points, just above basement side Baroka FC.
Donn emphasized that the return of Matsatsantsa fans and their unwavering support in the stadia will lift the team spirit.
“It’s amazing to have the fans back in the Stadium and we appreciate each and every person that comes out to support us.
We can feel their energy, regardless of whether we have 5, 500 or 5000 fans, so I’d encourage those who can get behind us as we near the end of the season,” the Cape Town-born-midfielder concluded.
In their last meeting, United crushed them 3-0 at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto in September last year.
