Derby match splits nation’s capital

Two city of Tshwane giants meet in a mouth-watering derby match in their 2019-2020 season opener this coming weekend.

The match is scheduled for Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is at 15:00, live on SuperSport 4 and live streaming through DStvNow.

This is the match where fans from both teams talk in a boastful manner.

The two sides have beefed up their squads with new signings and will certainly parade some of them in the big opening match of the new season.

Matsatsantsa have secured the services of Thamsanqa Gabuza and ex-Sundowns international winger Kudakwashe Mahachi.

Also, Matsatsantsa have roped in new assistant coach Nico Labohm who replaced Godfrey Mosoetsa.  Labohm vacated the club’s development academy position as the technical director.

Interestingly, the home side Sundowns are coming into this match with a few ex-SuperSport experienced players such as Anthony Laffor, Tebogo Langerman, Denis Onyango, academy product Lyle Lakay who joined from Cape Town City and skipper Hlompho Kekana.

Last season, the two outfits met on two occasions, Sundowns won the first leg and United settled the score in a convincing 2-0 victory at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
