I expect a very physical match against Baroka – Johannes

SuperSport United take on Baroka FC in a penultimate DStv Premiership encounter in Polokwane on the weekend.

The match is scheduled for Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kickoff is at 3pm.

According to United young defender Kegan Johannes, this is going to be a fierce battle as both sides are aiming for maximum points for different reasons.

For United, they went to the Limpopo province with one goal in their minds, to collect maximum points so that they consolidate the top eight finish.

As  for the home team, who are sitting at the bottom of the log table, they will be fighting for their lives to avoid the big chop.

The SuperSport United website conducted Q and A with defender Kegan Johannes ahead of the big encounter.

Please tell us about preparations for the next crucial league match against Baroka on the road?

Preparations have been going great and the mood in the camp is good and the guys are looking forward to the encounter with Baroka also taking into consideration the threat that they possess.

There is just two matches left and the team must make sure they consolidate the top eight finish?

The guys are aware of what the objectives are and obviously where we would like to finish the season because as a team we would like to finish off as strong as possible and on a high note.

The last two consecutive draws saw the team dropping points, which is a negative impact for the team’s end of season target?

That is true, the last few matches saw us dropping valuable points where we could’ve easily picked up maximum points but for us we can only control what we can which is our performances on the day. We can’t control everything, but we still haven’t lost sight of where we would want to end the season off.

Baroka are a dangerous side at the moment because they are seriously fighting to avoid the chop?

Honestly, I expect a very physical match seeing that both teams need the points and obviously if you look at the situation that Baroka are in at the moment, they have nothing to lose and they’ll come and throw everything at us and we have to be prepared for that.

The DStv Diski Challenge boys are also doing well at the moment and may win the league provided Stellenbosch FC lose, and they win in their last matches tomorrow?

I have no doubts in the boys to do the job tomorrow and for them as well all they have to focus on is what they can control and that’s their performances and obviously to get the three points whatever happens after that is in God’s hands but as long as they know that they’ll come off that field without having any regrets.  The boys stand a very good chance of winning the league and that’s such a huge opportunity for some of them because if you look at our squad, a lot of them are younger and I know for a fact this would mean so much to them.  But not only them, the entire SuperSport United family as well. I want to wish the boys all the best and I hope they bring the Cup home where it belongs.

Dlala Matsatsantsa!
