New SuperSport United recruit Zukile Kewuti made his official appearance in the Tshwane derby on Monday night.

The match was held at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Arcadia.

Kewuti joined Matsatsantsa at the beginning of this month after serving PSL sides such as Cape Town City, AmaZulu FC and Maritzburg United.

The talented midfielder was in the starting lineup and he displayed some impressive performances on the night.

“I’m satisfied about my performance and have noticed that I didn’t give away many balls as a defensive midfielder. I think I should have put much more effort going forward because I had more energy as the match progressed,” said Kewuti.

The talented midfielder who had an impressive pass rate on the night, played for almost 60 minutes as he made way for Thalente Mbatha in the 59^th minute.

“We worked as a compact unit, but were just unlucky as we created a lot of scoring opportunities,” said Matsatsantsa’s new recruit.

Although United lost the match 1-0, they went out there to show rivals Sundowns what they are made of.

“I honestly think we didn't deserve to lose the derby match because every player came to the party including those who came off the bench,” said the Cape-Town-born midfielder.

Meanwhile Matsatsantsa will play their next match at home as they welcome rookies and second placed outfit Richards Bay this coming weekend.

“The next match is crucial, we must go into the match with the same energy we possessed in our last match against Sundowns. It is not going to be an easy one as we will be fighting to cement a place in the top eight bracket.

We have our own target as we can’t afford to drop more points in the second round of the season,” he concluded.

The match is scheduled for Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is at 5:30pm.
