Leopards snarl at United

SuperSport United welcome Black Leopards FC in a league encounter on Friday night at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Kick-off is at 20:00.

The last time United were in a league action was when they beat AmaZulu FC at the same venue last month, courtesy of Aubrey Modiba’s spot-kick (1-0).

This match preceded the MTN8 Cup final, however, the United mentor Kaitano Tembo emphasized that the focus is purely on the league now. Also, Matsatsantsa have advanced to the Last 8 of another Cup competition (Telkom Knockout).

““We are taking it one game at a time. We are in the next round and we just have to wait and at the same time our next focus is our league game against Leopards tonight and we have to concentrate on that.

We must also understand that we were coming from a FiFA break after winning  the Cup and players went to the national teams and it was a little bit difficult for us, we were not sharp like we normally are (against Baroka in a Cup match) and we will go into our next game sharper,” said the Matsatsantsa mentor Tembo.

This match is crucial to United who must close the gap in the top five bracket on the league table between them and leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

United are currently on position five having played seven matches, three wins and the same number of wins and draws.  They have bagged 11 points.

Matsatsantsa will rely on experienced players such as Ronwen Williams, skipper Dean Furman, Onismor Bhasera Bradley Grobler and Thami Gabuza

Interestingly, Matsatsantsa will be facing their ex-winger Thuso “Lazza” Phala for the first time ever since he parted with them last season.
