Matsatsantsa off to the North

SuperSport United will leave for Polokwane for their Absa Premiership first round league meeting with Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon.

The match takes place at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium at 3pm.

Matsatsantsa will depart immediately after the Friday morning training session at Megawatt park.

Playing in Polokwane is usually an exciting and special occasion for United midfielder Aubrey Modiba who was born and bred in the province.

“It is always exciting to play in my hometown. Also, our supporters from my village will be at the match and I have invited some of them who are very close to me,” said the Mentz-born-player.

Matsatsantsa are going into this match highly motivated following a convincing Cup victory against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night in Tshwane.

“I think we are ready after a win in our midweek Cup match. The confidence is high, but this is a different ball game.

We need to apply ourselves well and make sure we do well again in the league,” Modiba concluded.

In their last league match United drew 3-3 with Cape Town City at home and the draw put them on position four on the league chart.

Matsatsantsa will rely heavily on players such Bradley Grobler, Sipho Mbule, Clayton Daniels, Dean Furman, Modiba and super-substitute Jamie Webber who netted second strike when they beat Baroka FC at the same venue a fortnight ago.
