Meet SSU new captain

SuperSport United Football Club have officially appointed their academy product Ronwen Williams as their new captain.

Williams took over from grafter Dean Furman who relinquished the title with immediate effect.

How do you feel about your new role as captain the club?

It’s an honour and amazing feeling as it’s been a dream of mine to lead SuperSport United, it’s a huge responsility but one that I’m looking forward to.

How does it feel about taking over from Dean?

Its huge shoes to fill because he served this club with great commitment and leadership, but I’ve learnt so much from him and all previous leaders.

You are not taking the responsibility for the first time. What difference does it make now that you are assuming the responsibility as captain of the club?

I have always been a leader in the team, the only difference is that
now I’ll be wearing the armband on a regular basis and I need to consider the club and team before myself.

How does it feel when you look back since you spent most of your life at United?

I feel great because everything the club planned out for me I’ve fulfilled, from being first choice of the club to now finally captaining the team. I feel all the sacrifices I had to make were all worth it as things are only getting better for me.

What is your message to your teammates?

We are all in this together, I’ll be wearing the armband but we are all leaders. I’ll serve you guys with dignity and honor.
