SuperSport United Football Club defender Keenan Phillips won man of the match award following an impressive performances in a league match on the weekend.

This after Matsatsantsa beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a crucial DStv Premiership match that was held at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday afternoon.

Phillips is one of the dedicated team members and his performances did not go unnoticed as Matsatsantsa made their intentions clear that they want to participate in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions next season.

Matsatsantsa netted from the boot of Zambian international Gamphani Lungu a few minutes before the break.

The victory saw Matsatsantsa (United are on position three) with the same points (51) as second placed Orlando Pirates who remained on the spot by virtue of goal difference.

Phillips joined Matsatsantsa a few seasons ago and also won a few caps in the South African Football Association (SAFA) national squads.

Meanwhile Matsatsantsa will play their last match of the current campaign on the road against Sekhukhune United this coming weekend.
