SuperSport United welcome the Limpopo-based-outfit Marumo Gallants in their last DStv Premiership match of the year on Friday night.
The match will be played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville tomorrow evening.
Kickoff is at 19:30.
The United website conducted Q and A with defender Kegan Johannes on the upcoming home match and the new sponsor Jonsson Workwear who came on board recently.
The team secured a new sponsor, this is a big deal to the team?
Of course this is a massive deal and boost for the team, it just goes to show that there are people that believe in the team and its philosophy.
Also, this is a big motivation to the team going forward?
Most definitely, It gives us as players a massive boost in terms of people who want to be part of us and our history as a club.
What is the general reaction to the entire team?
Well we are highly motivated and want to start the second stanza of the league with maximum points but taking nothing away from our next opponents Marumo Gallants because it’s not going to be an easy one.
Coming to the next match – how did the Durban camp help you guys ahead of the crucial home match?
The camp for us I think was a success, we obtained a certain level of fitness that we have to maintain just so we start the second round on a positive note. The camp also allowed us to build more cohesion amongst the group in preparation for the upcoming match.
Also, you played a few friendly matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, I’m sure it helped you guys to maintain the fitness level?
It’s always good to play friendly matches to test ourselves and see where we can improve as individuals and as a team.
Winning the next match will be a good result looking at the team’s performance before the long FIFA World Cup break?
Most definitely, we dropped two valuable points before the long break and we would obviously want to rectify the mistakes by obtaining maximum points this time around.
The next match against Gallants is not going to be an easy one, they are a tough side since we played them a few times?
Most definitely, it’s not going to be easy one because three points are up for grabs and they want it just as much as we do and it all boils down to who wants it more.
What is your festive season message to the Matsatsantsa fans?
Matsatsantsa fans should enjoy the festive season and the time off and spend quality time with their loved ones.
I would also like to wish each and every one a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, May the New Year brings you guys nothing but good health and prosperity. Stay safe!
