SuperSport United prospect Selaelo Rasebotja is working very hard in the gym to get back to full fitness level and re-join the team.
Rasebotja picked up an injury on the road at the beginning of the current season and has been out of action for the past three months.
Fortunately, Matsatsantsa managed to secure maximum points in the same match against rookies Richards Bay FC after forward Bradley Grobler scored from a penalty spot in the 50th minute.
Matsatsantsa website managed to have Q and A with talented player from Mahwelereng Township in Mokopane, in the Limpopo province
Selaelo you had a long injury layoff that you picked up at the beginning of the season?
Yes that true, a very bad one. I had raptured my ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) in August during our match against rookies Richards Bay in Durban… I did my ACL reconstruction surgery early in September and I see immense progress on my way to recovery.
Where did you draw your strengths since you are back in the gym working on your fitness level?
My family honestly played a huge role in my career. My mother in particular, she’s been very supportive in this difficult times. There was a time she took some time off from work to be with me after my surgery. So my comeback to play would be my dedication to all the sacrifices she’s made. The club also is very supportive in making sure that I get the best environment for my recovery. And also just the drive to get back to playing is keeping me positive and going. I’ve also done a few sessions with a sports therapist to keep my mental health intact. That all helped me to draw strength to keep fit and fully focused on my recovery.
When did you start working out and who is assisting you to get back on track?
I started Physiotherapy with our club Physiotherapist Bafana Sihlali (Bra B) just three weeks after my operation and further escalated my rehabilitation programme and started working with Kobus De Wet,
Who focuses more on strength work in the gym (Gymnasium). So far my rehab (rehabilitation) has been going perfect.
What is your take on the team’s performance watching from the stands/home?
I think the team has been performing really well. Although it’s difficult to watch from the stands or at home. Results have been coming for us and I really hope we continue where we left off before the FIFA World Cup and hopefully finish in a respectable position.
How long is it going to take to stop working out on your own before getting contact with teammates?
Hopefully before the second round resumes. So the plan is to start doing field work in next month which is four months post my operation. I’m probably going to join full contact training next year.
Tell us about the 2022 FIFA World Cup action and who you are rooting for since Bafana Bafana are not participating?
This year’s World Cup is so full of drama. But it’s a very interesting one for me. Underdogs seem to be putting up their hands at the world's biggest stage which makes it even more .
I’m rooting for Brazil to be world Champions.
