SuperSport United prospect Neo Rapoo made his first ever (DStv) Premier Soccer League (PSL) appearance this past weekend.
This after Matsatsantsa lost 2-1 to Golden Arrows on the road.
The match was held at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Matsatsantsa netted their only goal in the 85th minute, and subsequently, the youthful left-back came off the bench for Kegan Johannes.
United website conducted Q and A with the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) star Rapoo after a disappointing league result on the road.
Neo you came on the pitch briefly for Kegan Johannes, how did it feel?
Personally I feel that it was a great achievement for myself I tried to keep my head up and stay calm as best as I could. It was a very big game for me and I am proud to be in a position that I am. I try to stay humble as best as I can but overall I am very proud to be where I am right now.
Surely, you are disappointed because the team lost the match after a good run that started last year?
Very disappointed because the team did not win but the team performance is a great interest for myself but to be in a moment to play with all of the older players in the premiership was an amazing experience for me and I know that from here on we move upwards and we will do well in the future.
Same thing applied to your Cup derby when we played Sundowns. Worst case is that it was a rival match?
The team encouraged me to have patience and work hard after the Cup loss while being patient. I’ve been pushing myself day in day out to prove my worth and show that I’m capable and show that I have the quality to add value in this team.
However, it is not the end of the world?
That was great disappointment because the team did not win but the team performance is a great interest for myself but to be in a moment to play with all of the older players in the premiership was an amazing achievement for me and I know that from here.
Tell us about the difference between DDC and League matches?
The setup is huge obviously, age difference as well and a sense of maturity. There is a period in life where one grow physically and mentally, I think that is a major difference between DDC and the first team.
How is the spirit at training this week ahead of a big match on Monday next week?
The spirit at training is good but obviously we know that we have a few players nursing injuries and hopefully they recover very soon but we have to go out there with a good mind-set and fearless. We have been working very hard behind the scenes. Once again I would like to thank everyone at SuperSport for the opportunity they have afforded me and the space that I am in.
