We have waited very long and patiently for this week to come, we are definitely ready and have been blessed that we haven’t had any serious injuries, all the guys are looking sharp and ready to return to action.
Injuries are a worrying factor, we haven’t had the opportunity to play any friendly games but the league has helped with allowing five substitutes as well as the cooling breaks, we need to use both wisely.
We have carried out all the testing, I’m proud of the guys as it has been tough but we continued following STRICT PROTOCOLS and now we ready to finally play our first match come Sunday evening.
We will be based at the Sandton Towers and will went into the Bio-Bubble on Thursday 13 August (yesterday).
It’s a different ball game now as we haven’t played in over four months but we need to do our best and play to our strengths and the whole squad needs to be ready to put in a shift.
At SuperSport United we don’t believe in being average, we want to finish as high as possible, the top eight bracket is average for us, we need to push for top four, that’s where we belong as a club.
The young guys coming from MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) has fitted in perfectly and I see a bright future for all of them, they need to remain humble, hungry and out-work everyone and grab their opportunity when it comes.
We will definitely miss our supporters in the stands, the songs they sing for us, the band that plays lovely music, we are definitely weaker without them but all the message of support on our social media platforms has been very good and we will do our best to make them happy in these tough times.
We will definitely miss dancing and singing with them but we are in this together, we will play our part on the field and they will hopefully play their part off the field by continue following strict protocols and social distancing, keep good hygiene, so that we all could flatten the curve and go back to our normal lives.
