Skipper Williams speaks to Matsatsantsa from Bafana camp

SuperSport United Football Club captain took some time to speak to the Matsatsantsa family ahead of Bafana Bafana’s big match against the Republic of Ghana this week.

The 2022 AFCON qualifier match is scheduled for FNB Stadium on Thursday night.

Kickoff is at 6pm.

The Matsatsantsa skipper says that the level of confidence is very high at the camp as Bafana will be playing this crucial match at home.

“The mood at the camp is good, one of excitement.  We have a good home record so far and we want to keep that going, three points at home put us one foot in the door,” said the Bafana goalkeeper.

Bafana are missing some of their regular members in the squad due to some strict international COVID19 restrictions and an assortment of injuries.

“It’s a big loss to the team but we can’t dwell much on that, we have a wonderful and capable squad to achieve qualification,” Williams emphasized.

Also, Williams congratulated his two teammates Teboho Mokoena and Luke Fleurs after they have been called up in the national under23 camp for the Summer Olympics preparations.

“It’s wonderful news for the two players, having their eyes on being at the Olympics and I’m sure they will do well,” the captain said.

Some more good news for Matsatsantsa is the selection of their veteran left-back Onismor “Bash” Bhasera in the Zimbabwean national team. The hard-working defender’s call up is not a surprise to the football fanatics looking at his commitment in the domestic league.

“Bash is such a wonderful professional, he is always working hard and he is a wonderful role model to all of us at United, I’m glad he is back in the national setup.

He has done extremely well for the longest time, he deserves it,” said the United captain from his hotel room at the camp.

As Bafana will be hosting the West African nation, Williams stressed that the team needs their supporters even though they will be watching from home.

“We need our supporters now more than ever, we need that positive energy and we will do our utmost best to do them proud,” he concluded.
