SSU aim for maximum points against Stellenbosch

SuperSport United are aiming for maximum points when they take on rookies Stellenbosch on Friday night.

This crucial encounter is scheduled for the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue Cape Town Stadium.

The match starts at 20:00.

United’s focus is on the league after they were knocked out of the 2020 Nedbank Cup last weekend.

Matsatsantsa are left with nine matches, and if they manage to collect all the 27 points, they will finish in a respectable position on the table.

They are currently on position four having played 21 matches, with nine wins, seven draws, five losses and have bagged 34 points.

A win for United will see them jumping to the second spot below leaders Kaizer Chiefs who opened a big gap of nine points between them and the chasing pack.

However, this is not going to be an easy one for the Tshwane-based-outfit as rookies Stellenbosch also want to finish in a good position in the elite league.

In the first round, the two outfits played to a 1-all draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane.

Matsatsantsa will rely on players such as Ronwen Williams, Dean Furman, Teboho Mokoena, Sipho Mbule, Thami Gabuza and Bradley Grobler.

Good news for the visitors is the return of their versatile player Aubrey Modiba who recuperated from the injury he picked up last year. The Polokwane-born-player was on the bench when United visited rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the Last 32 of the Nedbank Cup in their last match.
