SuperSport United were held 1-1 draw by Baroka FC in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership match at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday.
The hosts looked on course for a much needed win, but Baroka hit back to claim a valuable point in their pursuit of a top eight finish.
The result leaves Matsatsantsa, who are now winless in 10 matches, in sixth spot while Baroka occupy 10th place on the league standings.
SuperSport got off to the perfect start. Sipho Mbule, fresh off a man-of-the-match performance in midweek, teed up Kudakwashe Mahachi who fired a low shot into the back of the net in the seventh minute of the match.
Matsatsantsa threatened to double their lead before the break and Bradley Grobler had two chances to do just that, but on both occasions Oscarine Masuluke denied the league's leading marksman.
Mbule almost notched up another assist in the 56th minute but midfield partner Teboho Mokoena failed to hit the target from close range.
At the other end of the pitch, Bagkaka went close through Evidence Makgopa who rose high to meet a cross but the young forward directed his header attempt narrowly wide of goal.
Baroka levelled matters in the 77th minute. A deflected shot from Richard Mbulu whistled past Boalefa Pule in the SuperSport goal.
Neither team were able to conjure any further noteworthy chances before the final whistle as the match ultimately ended in a draw.
