The match was played at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
The home side grabbed an early lead in the 7th minute due to SuperSport’s miscommunication at the back. This after Bashera kicked the ball into the knee of Matsatsantsa keeper Ronwen Williams and it ended into the back of the net.
Six minutes later, United equalized as Bradley Grobler who was well Bradley composed is set up by former Maritzburg player Evans Rusike to level matters.
On the stroke of halftime Kuda Mahachi’s close range shot was blocked by Maritzburg keeper and Grobler followed up with a shot that went over the post.
Subsequently, Sipho Mbule’s near post effort went over the post after he was set up by Grobler.

Both sides continued creating some more scoring chances but the visitors looked hungrier as the match progressed.
In the 63rd minute Grobler completed his brace as he was set up by Kuda after a brilliant move which started in the middle of the park as Maritzburg got dispossessed
In the 73rd minute Grobler was cautioned after stamping on Sanoka.
As the match progresses, the home side put some great amount of pressure to the visitors.
In the 75th minute, keeper Williams pulled a close range save from substitute Judas Moseamedi after striking a ferocious shot.
Seven minutes before the end of the match defender Luke Fleurs picked up a caution.
In the 87th minute, Williams confidently snatches the ball from a well taken free-kick after Grobler fouled Kwanda Mngonyama just outside the box.
In the 88th minute, Grant Kekana was also cautioned for time wasting.
In the 90+ brace man Grobler made way for defender Siyabonga Nhlapo.
In the 92+ Ghampani Lungu was unable to complete the pass as Teboho Mokoena was in a good space to score after catching Maritzburg on the counter.

This was a 300 league win for SuperSport United since the inception of the Premier Soccer League, they are a milestone in club record SSU as they leaped up to third position on the DStv Premiership standings.
