The match was held at the Milpark Stadium at the University of Witwatersrand in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
The visitors scored early in the 3rd minute of the first half following a cross on the left that was headed into the back of the net by Siyabonga Sibanyoni.
A few minutes later Sibusiso Maziko nearly equalized as his header sailed over the posts after a brilliant delivery from Thapelo Maseko on the left.
In the 15th minute, Tenda Matodzi failed to tap in another beautiful cross from Maseko on the left.
As United were pushing for an equalizer, TS Galaxy conceded a penalty after Maseko was kicked in the angle into the box in the 20th minute.
Skipper Bilal Baloyi stood up and converted to level the score (1-1).
Seven minutes later Matodzi’s close range shot on the right was blocked by the Galaxy keeper.
Matsatsantsa kept on pushing for the second goal when Maseko’s header sailed over the posts after receiving a delivery from Matodzi on the right.
The halftime score was 1-1 as the referee added one minute before the break.
In the beginning of the second half coach Kwanele Kopo brought in Razeen Bennett for Jabu Matsio.
Maseko continued with his good performance and in the 55th minute as he released a close range shot that was blocked by the Galaxy keeper and Maziko followed up but his shot was saved.
In the 60th minute Raymond Deeley made way for Modimoorabetse Moeti who played on the left back.
In the 67th United came close to scoring a second goal as Matodzi sent a brilliant delivery to Selaelo Rasebotja but his well anticipated volley was deflected to a corner-kick.
Rasebotja came back in the 71st minute but his effort was deflected again.
As the two sides were fighting with equal strength, Galaxy’s stocky midfielder Teto released a powerful long range shot near the centre line to the near post in the 73rd minute but the United keeper Samkelo Xulu failed to save it.
Coach Kopo introduced Keenan Bezuidenhout for Rasebotja in the 78th minute and he displayed some good performance.
In the 80th minute Baloyi was hit by a powerful shot on the stomach and the referee had to stop the match for few minutes.
Four minutes later the match resumed after Baloyi received some medical help.
The final score was 2-1 to Galaxy
