SuperSport United Football Club lost 2-1 to USM Alger in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup group match in Algeria.

The match was held at the Stade du 5-Juillet on Sunday night.

The match started with an exciting pace as both teams showed hunger for an early lead with visitors SuperSport producing more scoring attempts.

In the 25th minute the home side found the back of the net and the score was 1-0.

The halftime score was 1-0 to USMA.

At the beginning of the second half young Thabang Makubo came off the bench for his first senior team appearance for Selaelo Rasebotja.

Five minutes later Tendamudzimu Matodzi levelled matters with a beautiful strike.

The score was 1-1.

In the 76th minute Matsatsantsa made double substitution as Jabu Matsio and Jesse Donn replaced Risen Alberts and Gape Moralo.

With just 14 minutes before the end of the match, the home side netted their second goal and the score was 2-1.

In the 81st minute United made their last substitution as Neo Rapoo and Yandisa Mfolozi came on for Aphiwe Baliti and Phathutshedzo Nange.

The home side were reduced to 10-man as their skipper Belaid received second bookable offence in the 90th minute after denying Jabu Matsio a scoring opportunity.

The referee added five minutes as Matsatsantsa pushed for an equalizer.

Matsatsantsa got another opportunity as substitute Rapoo’s set-piece went straight into the keeper’s hands.

The match ended 2-1 to the home side as United’s Confederation of African Football competition quest came to an end.
