SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a 2-all draw in the DStv Premiership Tshwane derby clash on Wednesday night.

The match was held at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane.

The match kicked off like house on fire with both sides threatening for an early lead.

In the 1st minute of the first half centre-forward Thami Gabuza hit the woodwork after receiving a superb delivery from midfielder Sipho Mbule.

It was Gabuza again in the 19th minute who missed another great opportunity that was cleared off the goal-line by the Sundowns defender.

The home side came back in the 27th minute after Peter Shalulile’s shot shaved the crossbar after a long range just outside the box.

In the 31st minute keeper Williams punched away Thatayaone Ditlhokwe’s powerful clearance that was going into the back of the net as Sundowns were putting more pressure.

In the 44th Neo Maema put Sundowns ahead as Matsatsantsa keeper Ronwen Williams was found flat-footed.

The score was 1-0 to the home side.

Both sides went into the halftime with the homeside leading by 1-0.

In the 48th minute forward Peter Shalulile netted Sundowns’ second goal as two Matsatsantsa defenders failed to deal with him.

The score was 2-0.

In the 52nd minute Gamphani Lungu s’ header was caught by Onyango after receiving a brilliant delivery on the left.

At the beginning of the second half (45th) midfielder Sipho Mbule made way for Jamie Webber who made immediate impact upon his introduction.

Substitute Webber’s effort was spilled by Onyango and Jones followed up with a tap-in as Matsatsantsa make the score 2-1.

In the 68th minute coach Tembo made some more replacement as Grobler came off the bench for Gabuza who had a good game.

In the 76th minute keeper Williams cleared Shalulile’s close range effort for a corner-kick.

In the 79th minute Mokoena netted an equalizer after a well taken free-kick just outside the box as Onyango failed to deal with the set-piece.

United kept on threatening to score a third goal but the Sundowns defence was at times difficult to deal with.

In the 89th minute Manziba’s brilliant delivery on the right was tipped over the post by Sundowns keeper Onyango.

In the 90th minute Siyabonga Nhlapo replaced Manziba who picked up an injury after a brilliant attempt that was tipped by Onyango.

The final score was 2-2 as Mokoena won man of the match award after putting up some great performances on the night including an equalizer.
