SSU move to fourth place

SuperSport United moved from position five to number four on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table.

This after Matsatsantsa played to a goalless draw with Golden Arrows at the Mbombela Stadium last night.

Although United created a lot of scoring opportunities, it was not their day as Arrows’ defence made it difficult for them.

The home side dominated the entire first half but were disappointed by the finishing.

The score at halftime remained 0-0.

The second half saw the home side continue with the same attitude with coach Kaitano Tembo putting some fresh legs in search for maximum points.

Teboho Mokoena came off the bench for midfielder Sipho Mbule in the 64th minute while Kuda Mahachi replaced his Zimbabwean teammate Evans Rusike 12 minutes later (76th).

The introduction of the pair made some exciting changes in the game, but it was still difficult to get the ball in the back of the net.

The final score was 0-0 and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams won Man of the Match award.

This was a lengthy stay for United who played two matches in four days against Arrows in both the Cup and league matches respectively.

Meanwhile United will return home on Wednesday (today) for another league assignment as they visit Bidvest Wits in Johannesburg on Friday night.

The match will be held at the Bidvest Stadium and kick-off is at 20:00.
