SSU prepare for big Cup final

SuperSport United Football Club will focus on the 2019 MTN8 Cup final this week.

Matsatsantsa will be playing against Highlands Park FC in their maiden Cup final ever.

Matsatsantsa are going into this match highly motivated following their league victory at home against AmaZulu on the weekend.

This will be United’s third consecutive Cup final after winning it on penalties against Cape Town City in Durban in 2017 under the guidance of Eric Tinkler who was assisted by Matsatsantsa’s current head coach Kaitano Tembo.

Last season, United were unfortunate after losing to the same team on spot-kicks at the same venue with coach Tembo at the helm.

It was not a walk in the park for United who beat the likes of Bidvest Wits FC and rivals Mamelodi Sundowns who played them in two legs to get to the last stage of the lucrative competition.

“It was fantastic to qualify for the final once again. Our third MTN8 final in a row. We can be very proud of this achievement.

We hope we can go one step further than last year and retain the trophy,” said the United skipper Dean Furman.
