SSU prospect wins award

SuperSport United defender Luke Fleurs won man of the match award when they beat Bidvest Wits 1-0 in an Absa Premiership match on Friday night.

The young centre-back put some great performances on the night and was deservedly voted man of the match.

This is a big motivation to the 19-year-old defender who always showed some dedication when he is given a chance.

The Matsatsantsa prospect’s position is not an easy one to master, as he competes with big players who won Cups tournaments and championships before.

He plays in the same position with players such as Clayton Daniels, Bongani Khumalo, Grant Kekana and Billy Mutale.  Ex-SuperSport defender Morgan Gould (now with Stellenbosch FC) also played in the same position and was once Fleurs’ teammate.

Fleurs has been a member of the SuperSport MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) squad and his commitment impressed coach Kaitano Tembo who got him to train with the first team.

Before joining United, Fleurs was in the books of the National First Division (NFD) outfit Ubuntu Cape Town FC and was also called up to participate in the national under20 squad.
