SSU ready for MTN8 Cup second leg

Reigning champions SuperSport United are ready for their MTN8 Cup semifinal return leg against Bloemfontein Celtic this weekend.

The match is scheduled for Dr. Molemela Stadium in the Free State province on Saturday afternoon.

The match starts at 15:00 and will be televised live on SuperSport channel 202.

United are going into this match highly motivated after winning their midweek league fixture against Stellenbosch FC at home.

“It was a wonderful team performance, main objective was to get maximum points at home and we did that. The coach made some changes and the guys who came in played very well,” said the United skipper Ronwen Williams.

The Matsatsantsa skipper says his team is highly motivated and ready to fight by all means to defend the title.

‘All is going well, we have some players returning from an assortment of injuries and that’s a positive sign, we need all our soldiers as the games are coming thick and fast,’ he said.

United and Celtic were involved in midweek fixtures and according to Williams this is going to be a different meeting.

“It’s going to be a completely different ball game, they have rested some players, the positive thing for us is we won our encounter and the guys who came in have done very well, meaning we got more options available,” emphasized the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.

Interestingly, the battle between the two DStv Premiership teams is always difficult to predict in any competition.

“We have had very close encounters over the years, they have a structure and way of playing and they are good at it. If we play to our team’s strength and minimize our weaknesses we will be fine,’ Williams said.

In the first leg, the two outfits played to a 1-all draw in Tshwane last weekend.

“SuperSport always play to win, we are going out there to win the match, it’s not going to be an easy one but if we follow our game plan and believe in it we will come out victorious,” the captain concluded.
