SSU ready for the match against Cape Town City

SuperSport United have completed their preparations ahead of their crucial DStv Premiership clash against Cape Town City on Friday night.

The match will be held at the TUT Stadium’s main campus in the city of Tshwane.

Kickoff is at 19h30.

Matsatsantsa are going into this match following a home victory against Richards Bay in their opener and a goalless draw on the road against AmaZulu FC respectively.

Matsatsantsa will be totally focusing on the league after bowing out of the 2023 MTN8 Cup at home last weekend.

United mentor Gavin Hunt is unfazed about his team’s level of performance after playing three matches including the Cup competition.

“We do things a little bit differently, we generally finish well and get better... any team I've coached gets better [as the season continues] for various reasons," he said.

"You don't want to be flying now, but yeah we are strong. The kids are in big weight-training programmes. So, we're making them stronger and stuff. So, we do make things differently and we take time normally to come, I know that."

The Tshwane-based-outfit will rely heavily on the signings they have acquired this season to consolidate their team.  Prospect Shandre Campbell debuted on a positive note after winning man of the match and also provide an assist. Other notable new recruits are Terrence Dzvukamanja and Etiosa Ighodaro who both netted in their maiden game in the United colours.

Last season, Matsatsantsa did the double over City in both meetings, beating them 2-0 at home and 1-0 victory in Cape Town respectively.

Gates open at 16h00.
