SSU sign youngster from Atteridgeville

SuperSport United Football Club have signed youngster Abram Mashele from Atteridgeville Township in Tshwane.

The prospect will form part of the DStv Challenge squad under the guidance of Kwanele Kopo who is assisted by the United legend Thabo September.

Mashele joined the SuperSport United Development Academy at the age of 12 and he is now 16 years old.

"Abram Mashele is a very versatile player. He started as a central midfielder, but also plays as a centre-back or a right-back. He is well-built and physically very strong. He has got a very good technique, timing and can deliver a 40/50 meter pass with ease for a player of his age.

He is a rare breed and a late developer. He has gone through all the development stages well, and has now joined the Diski team under the guidance of coach Kopo," said the SuperSport United coach Godfrey Mosoetsa.

United, who have been good to the Atteridgeville community on a much larger scale, are actively involved in worthwhile causes as far as Corporate Social Responsibility programme is concerned.

"We had a good working relationship with Phelindaba Local Football Association (PLFA) and annually we selected players from all the clubs affiliated to the PLFA. Then, I would train them twice a week at Masopha Grounds in Atteridgeville. I was doing this with Matthew Themba, who is now the academy kit manager, and later with Simon Makhubela, who is now the academy driver," Mosoetsa concluded.

In the past, Matsatsantsa signed forward Thabiso Nkoana who also hails from the same Township.

Club legends from Atteridgeville are the late Thomas Madigage (May his soul rest in peace) and Raymond "Wewe" Seopa to mention a few.
