The DStv Premiership match between SuperSport United and hosts Stellenbosch FC ended in a point apiece after a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

The match was held at the Danie Craven Stadium in Cape Town.

In the early stages of the first part of the match the visiting team created a few scoring chances but could not convert them.

In the 18th minute midfielder Jamie Webber received a cross from the right and his shot was easily saved by Stellenbosch goalkeeper Sage Stephens.

Three minutes later, Sipho Mbule’s shot into the box was deflected by the Stellenbosch goalkeeper after he was set up by Ghampani Lungu with a brilliant pass on the right.

United were dealt a blow as the DRC international picked up an injury to his right shoulder in the 34th minute.

Two minutes later speedy Evans Rusike came off the bench for Manziba and his introduction brought some positive changes into the game.

In the 40th minute United were denied a clear scoring opportunity after Lungu’s forceful delivery on the right

Four minutes later Alan Robertson brought Lungu down and United won a free-kick and Mbule’s delivery was cleared to a wonderful counter attack but Stellenbosch missed a glorious chance.

The score was 0-0 at half time.

In the 58th minute Nigerian Stanley Dimgba put Stellenbosch ahead with Ashley du Preez involved into the built up.

The score was 1-0 to the home side.

The introduction of Kuda Mahachi for sensational midfielder Sipho Mbule brought some more changes to the game as United put more pressure to Stellenbosch.

In the 71st minute coach Kaitano Tembo brought in another international Moses Waiswa for ex-Stellenbosch forward Iqraam Rayners.

Matsatsantsa kept on pressing for an equalizer and it was not a surprise as Lungu laid a good pass to substitute Waiswa from a set-piece and he passed it to Rusike and United were back on level after Kuda Mahach’s tap in in the 81st minute.

A draw saw visitors Matsatsantsa jumping to number three with 35 points on the DStv Premiership log table.
