SSU welcome Maritzburg United in last home match

SuperSport United are looking to secure maximum points in the penultimate DStv Premiership encounter against Maritzburg United at home.

The crucial match is scheduled for Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The match kicks off at 5pm.

This is going to be tough battle between the two PSL outfits as Matsatsantsa want to finish the league in a good position while visitors are fighting to stay away from the relegation zone.

“Maritzburg are a very good side with lots of individual brilliance, we have analyzed them and know their strengths and obviously their weaknesses, we’ve had good results against them in the last few years so hopefully that can continue,” said the Matsatsantsa skipper Ronwen Williams.

Matsatsantsa are going into this clash after losing to perennial rivals Mamelodi Sundowns last week whereas Maritzburg shared the spoils with Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium.

However, coach Kaitano Tembo’s charges have put the disappointment in the back of their minds and looking forward to redeem themselves.

This is SuperSport’s last home match and a victory would be a token of appreciation for the Matsatsantsa supporters who have been backing the team away from the stadium.

“We have done very well at home this season, we lost only once at home and hope to finish our last home game with a win and a clean-sheet,” concluded Williams.

Matsatsantsa are currently on position six on the league table having played 28 matches with 10 wins, 11 draws, seven losses and have bagged 41 points.

The home side will rely heavily on their striking pair – Grobler and Thamsanqa Gabuza who have recovered from an assortment of injuries at the right time to help their team finish the league in a respectable position.

In their last outing, SuperSport won 2-1 at the Harry Gwala Stadium in the KwaZulu-Natal province.  Forward Bradley Grobler netted a brace.
