SuperSport United under19 boys returned from Cape Town this afternoon after putting a gallant fight in the Bayhill Premier Cup.
The Super boys returned home with their heads held high after losing 1-0 to Grassy Park United in the semifinal of the 2023 Premier Cup on the Easter long weekend.
The matches were played at the Erica Park soccer facility in Belhar.
The boys registered impressive victories in their group matches against Rygersdal FC, Hungry Lions FC and played to a goalless draw in the opening match against Hazeldal ACF.
In the Last16 stage of the tournament, Matsatsantsa thrashed Clover FC 3-1 to book a place in the quarterfinals.
They then proceeded to the Last8 where they knocked out Highlands Park FC on penalties after a 1-all draw.
In the Last 4, coach Jabu Maluleke and coach Tumi Ndaba’s boys were unlucky after losing 1-0 to Grassy Park United.
Interestingly, this was the boys’ first ever experience in the tournament where household names of the South African football legends emerged.
Also, it was a test to the team that was successfully assembled by coach Godfrey Mosoetsa and other development academy coaches.
