SuperSport United beat perennial rivals Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) clash on Saturday afternoon.
The grudge match was held at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, Tshwane.
The two sides created some scoring opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net for the longer periods of both halves.
The halftime score was 0-0.
Matsatsantsa left it late and managed to separate the two sides from Chandre Campbell in the 83rd minute following a brilliant assist by Dan Tshimanga.
The victory saw coach Thabo September’s boys cementing a place in the top three of the DStv Diski Challenge log table.
Meanwhile Matsatsantsa will honour their next DDC fixture on the road against leaders Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town next weekend.
The match is scheduled for Idas Valley Sports Ground on Sunday April 17.
