Tembo reflects on the team’s progress

SuperSport United head coach Kaitano Tembo is pleased with how the team has been working under the new normal since they resumed training programme last month.

How is the team coping so far?

The team has been doing well and coping with the load in terms of training and it’s good that we haven't had serious muscle injuries.

The league has announced dates for the resumption of the matches. This is certainly a big relieve to the teams?

We are also excited that the league has released the fixtures for the resumption of the league and we can now plan accordingly in terms of our preparations.

How is the overall feeling at training after the league’s board announced the dates?

We will be playing our home matches at Bidvest Stadium and we happy about it because it's a compact stadium and has a very good playing surface that suits our style of play and we have always played well there.

How is the level of fitness as we are nearing the restart of the matches?

The players are also looking good at training but we will have a clear understanding of where they are in terms of match fitness after our first game because we haven't had an opportunity to play friendly matches during our preparations due to strict health regulations which we have to adhere to.

Some of our players and club officials have since recovered from COVID19, this is good as the players have already rejoined the team?

The emphasis from us as a club is to continue to comply with health regulations which have been put in place by the Premier Soccer League, the South African Football Association and the government.

How are you guys lifting each other’s confidence and what’s the technical team’s emphasis in this unusual situation?

We would also like to thank everyone who played a role in the resumption of the league so that we can all go back to do what we love which is playing football.
