Tshwane giants renew rivalry in Cup match

SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns battle in the 2022 MTN8 Cup quarterfinal on Sunday evening in Tshwane.

The match will be held at the Tuks Stadium at 6pm.

This is going to be a tough one as the two sides battle for bragging right of the City of Tshwane more than anything.

According to coach Gavin Hunt, the team has prepared for the big match and the focal point is on winning the derby.

“We are fully focused and ready for the next challenge. It is important that we set up the way we want to try and do things,” said the United head coach Gavin Hunt.

This is going to be the first time ex-United skipper Ronwen Williams will be facing the team he served as a young man till he left them at the beginning of the current season after making history with them.

Other ex-Matsatsantsa players in the Sundowns squad are Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena, Grant Kekana and Sipho Mbule who parted with SuperSport recently.

Matsatsantsa will rely heavily on players such as Thami Gabuza, Bradley Grobler, Luke Fleurs, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Gamphani Lungu.

The match will be televised live on SuperSport PSL 202.
