United drop five points on the road

SuperSport United had a six days camp in Polokwane for their crucial two DStv Premiership matches against Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United respectively.

The first match was played on Wednesday night and ended in a stalemate (1-1) between the two PSL outfits.

The draw saw United narrowing the gap (23 points) between them and leaders Mamelodi Sundowns (24 points) with just one point on the DStv Premiership log table.

Three days later (today), Matsatsantsa took on another Limpopo-based-outfit Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

SuperSport opened the scoring account in the 29th minute from Terrence Dzvukamanja’s near- post header following a brilliant delivery from Grant Margeman.

Three minutes later Bradley Grobler failed to increase the lead as he unbelievably tapped over the post from a well-taken corner-kick.

The home leveled matters on the stroke of halftime as Elias Mokwana went past three SuperSport defenders due to miscommunication.

The score was 1-all at interval.

At the beginning of the first half Coach Gavin Hunt introduced Keenan Bezuidenhout for Tenda Matodzi who did not have a good first half.

The home side increased the lead in the second half from an unmarked Chibuike Ohisu after receiving a superb delivery from ex-Matsatsantsa DDC left-back Siphosakhe Ntiyantiya.

The score was 2-1 to Sekhukhune United.

In the 72nd minute Sekhukhune keeper Badra Ali Sangare brilliantly denied Gape Moralo’s anticipated header.

The home side subsequently caught SuperSport on the counter as Ricardo Goss made an excellent save.

With just 10 minutes remaining, Dzvukamanja managed to control a brilliant pass in between the defenders but was unlucky as his effort sailed over the post.

The final score was 2-1 to Sekhukhune United.

Meanwhile Matsatsantsa failed to unseat rivals Sundowns at the PSL summit and remained on position two.
