United lose second league match

SuperSport United Football Club lost their second match of the DStv Premiership season on the road.

This after losing to 2-1 to Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday night.

Matsatsantsa registered early lead five minutes into the first half from the boot of Teboho Mokoena after Pirates’ poor clearance from the ball that emanated from a brilliant corner-kick that was taken by Sipho Mbule.

Both sides created a few scoring chances alike in the first half with Pirates fighting to level matters.

The half time score was 1-0 to SuperSport United.

The second resumed with the same energy between the two sides.

Three minutes later United made a big mistake after failing to deal with Pirates’ Zakhele Lepasa as they brought him down into the box and the referee pointed to the spot.  Lepasa made no mistake as he levelled matters from the spot-kick.

The score was 1-1.

The draw boosted Pirates confidence in the match and they started pushing for another goal as they gained possession on the pitch.

In the 60th minute coach Kaitano Tembo made double substitution as Jamie Webber and Ghampani Lungu came off the bench for Moses Waiswa and Iqraam Rayner who both started.

The pair made some changes into the match as Matsatsantsa kept on creating scoring opportunities but Pirates were up to the task.

Tembo made another replacement as he brought in ex-Pirates centre-forward Thami Gabuza for Zimbabwean international Evans Rusike.

With four minutes remaining, United made another big mistake due to miscommunication as Pirates’ substitute Tshegofatso Mabasa’s strike snatched late victory for the home side.
