The game was held at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday night.
The home side made their intentions clear as they created a lot of scoring opportunities and promised to convert them but were disappointed by poor finishing.
Matsatsantsa veteran centre-forward Bradley Grobler missed a clearcut opportunity in the second minute of the match as his close range effort was blocked by Chippa keeper Stanley Nwabali.
The home side came back again in the 13th minute as Zambian international Gamphani Lungu’s right-hand-shot was saved by Nwabali.
Matsatsantsa conceded a goal in the 32nd minute after they were caught on the counter due to their keeper Washington Arubi’s poor build-up distribution at the back as Sinoxolo Kwayiba netted from Martin Craig’s brilliant pass on the right.
The halftime score was 1-0 to visitors Chippa United.
The home side continued were they left off in the first stanza as Grobler’s powerful header was brilliantly caught by Nwabali after receiving a superb delivery from Lungu just outside the big box.
In the 47th minute Nwabali pulled a great save as he tipped Bilal Baloyi’s effort over the post after a well-taken setpiece by Grant Margeman.
In the 60th minute SuperSport were lucky as Eva Nga’s well anticipated effort hit the upright with the home side’s keeper well beaten.
Matsatsantsa have subsequently made some changes as both Aphiwe Baliti and Terence Dzvukamanja made way for Lyle Lakay and Etiosa Ighodaro respectively.
The pair made some tremendous difference as Nigerian forward’s presence was felt by the Chippa keeper as he saved his efforts on countless occasions.
In the 75th minute coach Hunt introduced another pair to put more pressure to the visitors as Selaelo Rasebotja and Siviwe Magidigidi came on the bench for Gape Moralo and Gamphani Lungu.
In the 80th minute, the visitors extended their lead (2-0) through Eva Nga as Matsatsantsa were caught on the counter for the second time.
Four minutes later the home side made their final substitution as speedy left-winger Shandre Campbell came off the bench for Grant Margeman who picked up an injury towards the end of the match.
The final score was 2-0 to Chippa United.
