We are wary of wounded Spurs - Donn

SuperSport United are facing dangerous side Cape Town Spurs who have just parted with head coach Bafana Bafana legend Shaun Bartlett in a crucial DStv Premiership midweek match.

The game is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Athlone Stadium.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm.

Newcomers Spurs have never tasted a point in the elite league after recording seven losses in seven matches.

The Cape-based-outfit have parted with their head coach who has since been replaced by two experienced interim coaches – Vasili Manousakis and Sean Connor.

SuperSport United website conducted Q and A with midfielder Jesse Donn ahead of tonight’s match in Cape Town.

This week you guys are back in the domestic league and on the road again?

That’s true, we are back to the league after a positive result in the CAF. Back on the road again as well which always adds another dimension to our preparation.

It looks like you are going to have a tough one playing a team that never won a match since joining the elite league in the new season?

We are playing a team that will no doubt be hungry to get a win- their first win of the season. It will be important for us to match them in terms of grit and desire, as desperation often gives teams a different level of energy.

Also, they just parted with their head coach recently and this doesn’t give you guys the upper hand?

They have also just parted ways with their coach, leaving the players hungry to prove to the new management that they deserve a spot in the team. All these factors, along with the fact that they have a good group of young and experienced players, will make it a difficult encounter.

In my honest opinion, Spurs are a good side, they score goals, and they play exciting football but end up losing?

We are also hungry to get back to winning ways in the league after a disappointing result in Port Elizabeth last week. We trust in the team we have and the work we put in on the training ground, and if we are able to match them with fight and energy, I have no doubt that we will secure the three points.
