SuperSport United Football Club are back in action against Stellenbosch FC after a deserved two week rest.
The match is scheduled for Danie Craven Stadium in Cape Town on Friday night.
Kickoff is at 5pm.
Matsatsantsa are going into this crucial encounter refreshed and aiming for maximum points on the road.
According to ex-Stellenbosch FC forward Iqraam Rayners, the team has been hard at work and are wary of “Stellies” who are doing well currently.
“The level of confidence in the team is very high and we know what to expect. It’s not going to be an easy game but for us as a team we know what we should do on the day,” said Iqraam Rayners.
Rayners, who joined United at the beginning of the current season from Stellenbosch, started on a positive note but picked up an injury that sidelined him for a few weeks.
“I think I rejoined the team at the right time and it was not easy for me to stay out for over a month. The team looks hungry and we must collect maximum points in the remaining matches but we take it one game at a time
Everyone in the team is performing and we are all fighting to win and be in a better place in the league,” he said.
This is not going to be an easy encounter looking at the home side’s fighting spirit and the never say die attitude.
“We should approach this match with the right mindset and we know what we should do as a team but I'm confident in everyone who is going to be on the pitch on the day when we play Stellenbosch.
They are dangerous on the counter attack with the front three but our defence knows what to do because we have been working on the game-plan. I’m happy about the confidence and we know what to expect and what to do on the day,” said the United forward.
The Matsatsantsa forward also emphasized that the match venue, Danie Craven Stadium, will certainly suit their style of play.
“The pitch is good, it's big and will suit our style of play and the way we want to play,” Rayners emphasized.
Although Rayners never met the Matsatsantsa supporters after joining the team, he appreciated the support they are getting from them watching the matches from their homes.
“I just want to say thanks to the Matsatsantsa fans who keep on supporting us during this hard times because it's not easy for them to watch the games on their television sets but we appreciate their unwavering support and we promise to do our best,” he concluded.
